Bella Levinson is the visuals editor for West Signals and a senior at West. It’s her second year in Signals and she is excited to tell the school’s stories through her eyes. In her free time, Bella loves to take pictures, hang out with friends, and is super excited to be joining West Signals this year!

Filipino Culture Club practices Tinikling, a traditional dance, to prepare for a highly anticipated performance at Multicultural Day.  Every year, cultural clubs present traditional dances, clothing, and songs to showcase the diverse community that makes up West High.  These performances require an abundance of preparation time, dedication, and effort, all to present a perfected show for students and staff.

Under the Friday night lights on Friday Sept. 30, 2022, the West High Warrior team takes on the South High Spartans in the first league match of the football season. After a stellar performance from the Warriors, the team came away with a 48-20 win over the Spartans. “It feels good to have won our first league game against a good South team, and it really boosts our confidence going forward,” expressed starting Varsity linebacker Tyler Black (10). The Warriors hope to continue their success in the next league game against Lawndale on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022.

The Homecoming rally included two student involved games: table surfing and “skin the snake.” In addition, West High’s Dance Department, Drill and All Male performed at the rally, much to the excitement of the student body. The Homecoming Top 15 have been announced! All of the nominees were ecstatic and full of smiles as they walked down the stairs at lunch with their “Stay Groovy” balloons on September 16, 2022. ASB (Associated Student Body) also announced the highly anticipated theme for this year: Saturday Night Fever. West High students couldn’t be more excited to dance the night away under a shiny disco ball. Ticket sales for Homecoming will start on Friday, September 23, 2022. The Homecoming King and Queen will be announced at the Homecoming football game on September 30, 2022 at 7pm. West High's Girls Volleyball team huddles up after scoring a point against Palos Verdes  High on September 1, 2022. The team plans their next play to get that “Warrior win”. Outside of brainstorming their next play, the girls build up positive momentum to keep them in the right mindset throughout the whole game. The girls support each other, and when one teammate fails a play, they build each other back up without giving up.
