Warriors Win Against Torrance Tartars, Advance to Playoffs

   The West High Warriors defeated the Torrance High Tartars on West’s Senior night game Friday November 3rd, by a score of 24-21.    In the first quarter, the Tartars scored a 49-yard touchdown, making the score 7-0.

  At the beginning of the second quarter, the Tartars scored another touchdown, but in West’s next drive, running back Blake Turner (12) scored a 50-yard touchdown. Towards the end of second quarter safety Dutch Silverlake (11) scored another touchdown, making the score 14-14 at the end of the first half.

  In the third quarter, a pass from the quarterback to Silverlake in the end zone resulted in a Warriors  touchdown, giving West a 24-14 lead.

  In the fourth quarter, the Tartars scored, making the score 24-21, but they failed to score after that, the game ended with the Warriors winning 24-21.

  Outside linebacker Pasil Awadallah (12) commented on the Warrior’s performance against the Tartars.

  “I think the team played hard throughout the whole game. The Tartars were very physical and we were able to match them. Both the defense and the offense played really well.”

  Offensive lineman Noah Sullivan (12) believes the Warriors are improving with each game.

  “Our team is definitely learning what we are capable of at this point and I think that shows in how this game went compared to others.”

  Now that the Warriors are advancing to the CIF playoffs, outside linebacker Ryan Maloney (12) believes that the Warriors can   prepare for their game on Friday.

  “The team will have a great week of practice as we have a tough opponent on Friday and it’s going to take a lot of hard work to take them down.”

  The Warriors will play a home game against the St. Paul Swordsmen on Friday, November 10 at 7:30.  Make sure to come out and support the Warriors as they hope to advance in the playoffs.
