Mr. Egan’s Tips for Success

Smoke Signals recently received “Brief Education News”, also known as “The BEN”, a weekly newsletter sent to WHS staff each week. On September 10, 2012, Mr. Egan offered “3 Pieces of Advice to Freshmen”:

1. Get involved in your school. Students who surround themselves with others who are doing positive things like performing groups, teams or service clubs, have a greater likelihood of finding daily and academic success.

2. Develop a daily study plan and commit to it. Have a regular block of time set aside every time for doing homework and, if you have no homework, review your notes, read over them and look ahead and preview the next chapter.

3. Make good choices everyday. The bottom line is to think before you act and just because others are choosing to do something wrong doesn’t make it right for you to do it. I always tellmy own children to act in a way that would make me proud, whether I’m there to see it or not.
