Capturing the moment, Sydney Phan (11) #3 of West High School, dressed in black, controls the ball while a player from Newport Harbour High School, in a white jersey, challenges her during a soccer game. The two met near midfield with the ball between them, which captured the intensity and fast pace of the game. Late afternoon sunlight stretched long shadows across the field and highlighted the players against the empty bleachers and school buildings. West High’s Varsity Girls soccer team lost the game 2–0.
