As we inch closer to the end of the school year, seniors reflect on their past four years at West. From attending electrifying football games and school dances to joking with their friends in the back of class, each senior carries a few precious memories that always leave them smiling. As they prepare to move on to the next chapter of their lives, they share their favorite memories, many of which defined their time at West High.
Maya Nawachi (12) shared her sweetest memory: junior prom. The venue was stunning, which “helped make the night feel truly unforgettable.” More than anything, though, she emphasized that it was “my friends who made the experience so special.” Getting ready with her friends, enjoying the night, and taking pictures together turned prom into a memory she knows she will never forget.
The spirit of camaraderie truly defined seniors’ high school experiences, and for Lily Pineda (12), that was the best part. ” I loved seeing everyone come together at the end of the week,” she beamed. Dressing up according to the themes further stimulated each night’s excitement, Pineda described. Beyond the games themselves, though, it was the time spent with friends, cheering, laughing, and the spirited atmosphere that made for special nights.
While some seniors created their best memories outside of class, others made them during school hours. Karina Udhawani (12) shared that her favorite memories came from the simple moments during warrior workshops on Wednesdays and Thursdays. “Having time built into the week to see and talk with my friends” was something she always looked forward to. In the middle of busy schedules and schoolwork, meeting with friends during workshops was like an energy boost before jumping to the next class. Laughing about each other’s day transformed her afternoons into something truly wholesome.
As graduation approaches, these memories become pages of a chapter approaching its end. From large events like prom and football games to quiet moments in workshops, it is clear that the people and experiences within West High made it special. Hearing the echoing laughter in the hallways, cultivating friendships, and completing four years of hard work are a few memories that we all share. While seniors may be moving on to new beginnings, a part of them will always remain here, holding onto the moments that made their high school life unforgettable.
