Warriors, in the midst of your doom scrolling have you stumbled upon the rave about the new Wuthering Heights production? It’s everywhere, and I’m here to spill the beans on why this classic story is popular amongst this generation. 

  Wuthering Heights is an old book written by Emily Bronte centered around Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. Emerald Fennell made an adaptation onto the movie and made it modern with classy victorian elements.It features Margot Robbie as Catherine and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff. It’s about forbidden love, an all consuming passion between Catherine and Heathcliff that lead to their death, and a little on the spooky vibes on the marshes of England. This is something we would normally be reading in English Class but now, there’s a new movie version out, and it’s totally different from what you would expect.   Instead of the movie being all old fashioned, this movie is garnering attention for its modern take on this classic English novel. People on tiktok are making edits, resurfacing the Kate Bush song Wuthering Heights, and obsessing over its modern-vintage aesthetics present through the Movie. 

  As this movie has become increasingly popular since its release, Leah Sullivan (9), “saw tons of clips of the new movie on for you page on tiktok. I loved the old movie when I watched it but I’m excited and nervous to see the new one.“  The adaptation of the movie has clearly exploded on tiktok with the merge of classic literature with contemporary soundtracks and tiktok has successfully made this movie a most sought-after piece. 

  Through this movie, the Wuthering Heights directors have taken a classic novel and made it relevant and exciting for high schoolers now. Good stories never get old, they just need a new way to get discovered.
