Kylie’s Highlighter Gone Missing
March 17, 2017
In 2015, Kylie Jenner released her cosmetic line. When her lipstick line was first released, it sold out in less than three hours. From then, she has released lip kits, highlighters, and eyeshadow palettes. However, the company was recently accused of sending out packages without product in them.
When Kylie Cosmetics finally released a collection of their new highlighters online, it sold out within minutes. Each bundle included six highlighters for a total of $130, or $22 for a single one. Those who had purchased a product from Kylie’s highlighter line, otherwise known as Kylighter, were stunned to see their highly anticipated package arrive empty.
These die-hard fans took their frustrations to social media where they shared pictures of empty containers. Luckily, the company quickly responded to upset customers with emails as well as DMs.
From an e-mail screenshot posted on Twitter by Kylie Cosmetic’s Team, it said, “[We] are so sorry for this issue. [We] will have a one time courtesy replacement package sent out to you.”
Kayla Homan (11) said, “I feel as though every company goes through different accusations. Companies should not have little mistakes like this, especially when people are paying so much money.”
This is not the first time the company has faced controversy. Last year, makeup artist, Vlada Haggerty, accused Kylie Cosmetics of stealing ideas to promote her makeup line.
Additionally, beauty blogger, Stephanie Nicole, revealed in a YouTube video that one of the lipsticks had recently changed formulas, and even downgraded the quality of it, though the price remained the same. The blogger even went as far as listing out the ingredients in Kylie Cosmetics and compared them to that of ColourPop’s. She stated that the majority of the ingredients are the same, yet ColourPop’s products are far less expensive than Kylie Cosmetics.
Though the company has previously undergone mishaps like the previous one, fans are still committed to purchasing the products no matter the cost.
Hannah Harrison (11) stated, “I think people don’t really care if a company faces any controversy, especially if it’s of a Kardashians. People are still going to buy things from the companies, and any mishap will be forgotten in a few weeks.”
