Warriors Come Back to Defeat Olympians in Homecoming Game

The West High Warriors won their Homecoming game against the Leuzinger Olympians on October 28th by a score of 42-41.

Leuzinger took the lead in the first quarter, and led 14-7 at the end of the quarter.  At the end of the second quarter, the Olympians led 28-14.  When the third quarter ended, Leuzinger led by a score of 41-21.

However, West came back and scored three touchdowns with less than six minutes in the fourth quarter, winning the game.

Noah Sullivan (12) stated, “Quarter four was the most exciting. To go from being down by so much to coming back around was such a great feeling.”

Sullivan also stated, “Our offense performed well but our defense needed some tweaking up. The receivers made good catches because the quarterback made good throws, and the quarterback made good throws because the offensive line gave him time to do it.”

During the game, Dutch Silverlake (12) returned a kickoff for a touchdown and scored another touchdown.

Quarterback Brandon Poffenbarger (12) threw a 18-yard touchdown pass, a 20-yard pass, and a 26-yard pass with a total of four touchdowns over the course of the night.

Runnerback, Gus Eckert (12) had a 2-yard touchdown run and wide receiver,  Max Parish (12) had a 24-yard run during the game.

Come out for West’s Senior Night game this Friday, November 3 at 7 p.m., against the Torrance Tartars.
