On Friday, October 27, our dreams were fulfilled: Netflix’s hit show, Stranger Things, finally returned for Season Two. Stranger Things, created by Matt and Ross Duffer, instantly became popular within its first 35 days of streaming, reaching 14.07 million streams according to Symphony Advanced Media.

Season one surrounds the small town of Hawkins, Indiana where a boy named Will goes missing, and his friends and family search for him, stumbling on something unexpected along the way. Jackson Cizma (11), who watched the show himself, said, “Season one was perfect. Its storytelling and special effects were stellar especially the demogorgon.”

Season two begins one year after season one left off, with Will (Noah Schnapp) back and his friends Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) just going to the arcade until Will falls into an unexplainable trance.

Producer and director Shawn Levy described the season to Collider stating, “[There is] this determined desire to return to normalcy in Hawkins, in the Byers family, in that group of friends, and it’s the struggle to reclaim normalcy and maybe the impossibility of it.”

This is shown perfectly in Episode 4, “Will the Wise,” where after a regular day in school Will falls into another trance and it seems a piece of the demogorgon has entered him. He begins to act strange and the group searches to find a reason why. This group now includes Max (Sadie Sink), a girl from California with an abusive step-brother who wants to join but is being alienated by Mike.

Adam Gibson (11) said, “This show is so good I already can’t wait for season three.”

To attempt to sum up this show in just one article isn’t right. This show is a great addition to Netflix’s lineup, making people like Veronica Atkinson (11) say, “Netflix is on point recently.”
