Netflix recently announced that their new  drama series, 13 Reasons Why, will release a second season. Although the show was a huge hit for the streaming network, fans are not as excited as anticipated. In fact, many have mixed feelings on the news.

The TV show is centered around a teenage girl named Hannah Baker who takes her own life. She leaves behind cassette tapes and each tape reveals one reason why she committed suicide. Each tape is addressed to a specific person and Hannah explains why he/she is a reason by narrating her encounters with them on the tape.

Avid Netflix user, Manas Jinka (11) said “I’m still going to watch the second season; however, it is going to be weird without Hannah’s commentary. I wonder how they will incorporate her in the mix. I just hope season two will be just as intense and raw as season one.”

Shashank Coorapati (12) commented, “I think season two will be just as good as season one. There was a lot of unfinished business with the other characters like Bryce and Alex that were affected by Hannah’s tapes, but I do not know if it will deeply focus on the issues of suicide and rape showcased in season one.”

Because the storyline is based on one book, many are questioning the expected sequel if there isn’t even a second book. 13 Reasons Why fan, Alexsa Hernandez (11) said, “As someone who read and loved the book, season one was amazing. I am very happy with how the show turned out, but when I heard about season two, I was a bit skeptical about it. I just hope they do not ruin it.”

The show is expected to air sometime in 2018. Season one of 13 Reasons Why is available to stream on Netflix now.
