It was one of the biggest, and hottest Hollywood romance of our century. They took over the red carpet, as well as the hearts of many people nationwide. However, like many relationships, “Brangelina” is coming to an end. After a seven year relationship (two years being marriage) Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have recently announced their shocking divorce.
The couple first met each other when filming their movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and then started dating a couple months after Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s divorce. It was not until two years ago that Pitt and Jolie decided to tie the knot, making a promise for their future and their kids. Ever since their love began, people young and old have looked up to them as they took on acting, taking care of the kids, and helping with refugee camps.
Nonetheless, the glitz and the glamour was not enough to keep the pair together. Sources from Daily Mail have claimed that Pitt “has been accused of physically and verbally abusing his children during a drunken flight on a private jet.” Pitt has tried to deny the fact, however, Jolie petitioned for divorce, which Pitt later agreed on. This is not Pitt’s first accusation with physical and substance abuse. Jolie could no longer handle the problems and filed a divorce for the health of her family.
Jolie has been silent on the matter, but Pitt told People magazine, “I am very saddened by [the divorce], but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
With the announcement of the split, the hashtag #Brangelina became the top trending tag on Twitter in seconds and the fans’ reactions to the news were full of emotions. Vogue defined the breakup as “the day love died.”
One fan of Brangelina, Mailee Newman (11), was shocked by the news and felt “they brought an energy of hope for young individuals seeking love.” Because of this Newman believes that their breakup will affect the way some people feel about love due to their influential status.
Pitt and Jolie’s romance is one of the many Hollywood relationships that was thought to last forever. Yet it crumbled. Now people are wondering, who will be the next power couple? Will they fall apart too?
