Avengers: Age of Ultron blasted into theaters on Friday April 30, 2015 and is doing as well as expected. This long awaited release grossed over $180 million in its opening weekend. The movie was directed and written by Joss Whedon and Vulture magazine said, “Perhaps only Joss Whedon could satisfy both nerd-do-well Comic-Conners and corporate masters so thoroughly. He has managed to locate the epicenter of the “universe” universe.” Whedon was able to create the perfect Avenger “universe” to compete with other movies in the larger Marvel universe.

Based on the comic book written by Stan Lee, Age of Ultron brings back characters like Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man., Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Clint Bart as Hawkeye, and Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury, to once again fight the world of the extraterrestrial villains.

The story is based around the Avengers attempting to retrieve Loki’s scepter from the leader of the HYDRA. With what the movie lacked in plot and sequence, it made up for in action packed scenes. The Ultron comes into play when there is conflict over retrieving the scepter and it is what causes the Ultron to be made. It is the ultimate planetary defense system, voiced by James Spader, and its job is to save the planet in the only way it knows how– by killing everyone in its way. The avengers must get together to defeat the Ultron before he wipes out planet Earth and evil takes over.

Some people didn’t enjoy the fight to save humanity nearly as much as others because they claimed that the plot lacked substance. Irene Dominguez (10) said, “Some parts of the plot were unnecessary and didn’t really add to the story.” Dominguez’s comment could be related back to the fact that she isn’t a major avenger fan, but nonetheless, her argument is valid. Some parts of the plot could have been taken out to give the story a consistent flow of fighting evil.

Saving the world from evil computer-controlled robots calls for some action packed scenes and Avenger fan, Ashif Ahmed (11) said, “There was always something going on, and it kept me entertained.” Whether it was a fight scene or a meeting between the Avengers to create their plan of action, the film continued steadily with the intensity growing with each scene, but some fans complained that the storyline may have been too predictable. Ahmed added, “You know the Avengers will win in the end, that is predictable.” The plot’s twists and turns that led up to their victory however, weren’t “…nearly as predictable.”

The movie left most fans satisfied with their movie ticket purchase and it shows with the overall $200 million and counting in box office earnings thus far. So, if you’re into Marvel films or are just looking for an action movie to satisfy your inner adrenaline junkie, head out to see Avengers: Age of Ultron.
