Bombs Away!

“Geronimo”, said the new indie pop band, Sheppard, as they leapt their way up the radio charts in the U.S. Recently, Sheppard has gained popularity increasingly fast when they dropped their hit single “Geronimo”. The sibling trio and other three band members share the same fresh faces that seem unaccustomed to fame, however, they made their big start years ago in Brisbane, Australia.
When Amy Sheppard had a university assignment to create a song, she recruited her brother George Sheppard to help her after she overheard him singing in the shower and discovered that he was vocally skilled. They got their sister, Emma Sheppard, to join them alongside guitarist Michael Butler, drummer Dean Gordon and songwriter/vocalist Jason Bovino and thus, Sheppard was born.
Although they have been popular in Australia for quite some time, they recently made their big break in the United States. Their new album, Bombs Away, was released in the U.S. on March 10, 2015 just after they performed on The Today Show in NYC. The band went from a pop sensation in Australia to being a global sensation. They are currently on their last stops opening for Meghan Trainor on her “That Bass” tour. Daily Mail UK reported about an interview on The Today Show with George Sheppard, where he commented on his gratitude towards their newfound success; “It’s like a weight being lifted off our shoulders”. Amy Sheppard added in and said, “It’s been a long time coming, we’re so excited to finally have it out here.”
The band has also made an appearance on Jimmy Fallon and are taking steps to make sure the world knows who Sheppard is. Forbes Magazine said, “And it’s not just musical talent they possess in droves, they’ve been in the game long enough to really understand the business side of entertainment as well.” The band has done an Australian Subway commercial and is planning on working with many other brands so they can have their name attached to popular companies.
Their music can appeal to all age groups with it’s indie rhythm and upbeat tempo. Alexandra Guzman (12) said, “Their music is fun and most of the time it makes me want to get up and dance.”
Don’t overlook Sheppard because they are making their way around the U.S. quickly and aren’t slowing down their success any time soon. Fans can follow them on Twitter and Instagram under @wearesheppard & catch their videos on YouTube.
