On Friday night, the West High Warriors Boys’ Football team played their first home game against the Redondo Seahawks and lost with a score of 24-21.

In the first half of the game, Redondo led with a score of 7-0, but West gained more momentum during the second half. The Warriors were able to come back with 7 points in the third quarter. Alexandra Dan (11) said, “The game got really intense in the second half and everyone in the field was playing really well. [The amount of] energy throughout the stadium [definitely] contributed to the team’s spirit.”

During the game, they had good defense, but were not able to execute their offense. Skyler Williams (11) said, “It is sad that we lost to [Redondo] three years in a row, but it was a good game. Both sides played hard and we just have to work harder at practice in order to be a tough team to beat.”

Despite all their hard work and effort, it still was not enough to get themselves a win. Alec Froning (12) said, “I felt very strong about the game and believed we would win. Unfortunately it didn’t turn out that way. I’m still proud of my team and hopefully, we will be stronger when we play against Mira Costa.”

Following this loss, they will be playing an away game at Mira Costa this Friday at 7pm.
