Beto O’Rourke Enters Presidential Run

 On March 14th, Beto O’Rourke announced that he was running for presidency for 2020. O’Rourke is a Texan congressmen under the Democratic party.

As for experience in government, O’Rourke has held three terms in the House of Representatives for El Paso.

  Election follower, Stacy Wong (11), stated, “I’m very excited to see how [Rourke] decides to take his campaign against many well known and powerful Democratic politicians. Especially against so many competitors, this race will be an interesting one!”

  He had lost the senate seat to Ted Cruise during Midterms. O’Rourke gained massive support from Democrats nationwide after this initial loss.

  Within the first 24 hours of announcing his presidential campaign, O’Rourke raised over $6.1 million dollars. This sum is higher than any other Democratic candidate to this date, even beating Bernie Sanders who had raised $5.9 million dollars.

  After hearing about O’Rourke’s fundraising, Joji Maldonado (12) stated, “It’s very interesting to see how much support these political figures can gain in just a day. This election will definitely be monumental if more democratic candidates gain even more support.”

  O’Rourke was elevating his platform with a broadcasting message of national unity, promoting his worth over other candidates.

  When describing his plans in his election announcement video, O’Rourke stated, “By ensuring that our government works for everyone and not just for corporations,” and “Americans who want to ensure that we squarely confront the challenge of climate change before it is too late.”

  On March 30th, O’Rourke plans to have a kickoff for his campaign and his supporters in El Paso, Texas.
