Wii Competitions Wound Down to Grand Championships at Redondo Beach

Beginning July 16th, Wii Games launched its first tournament series. This national competition, which has occurred in twenty six different locations throughout the United States, will come to the neighboring Redondo Beach, only about two miles away from West High. The event will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Redondo Beach Marina, 181 N. Harbor Drive. There will also be shutters available for transportation to Redondo Beach at Redondo Union High School and the Knob Hill community Center.

Ninety teams will be enjoying light-hearted competition in these specific games: bowling, the most recent Super Mario Brothers game, hula hoop, Mario Kart, and basketball. Finalists from different categories from teens to adults will be racing to win the ultimate first-place prize which includes a Royal Caribbean cruise, a flat screen TV, and more. 

Not only are the finalists coming to Redondo Beach, renowned Olympian and gymnast Shawn Johnson will be guiding the teams through warm-up exercises. Johnson will also meet with fans on Friday.

This event allows many people to not only compete but to have fun and interact with opponents. Additionally contestants benefit from the activities that will be available at Redondo Beach during the Labor Day Holiday.
